Costa Rica & Nicaragua

Travelling is just the best, I guess I don't have to tell that, meeting up with lots of cool people, getting to interesting sites, seeing beautiful nature, celebrating cool parties, chilling at lovely beaches, going for adventure trips and so on and on and on an on...
COSTA RICA

Catching up with my beloved sister Barbara on the 9th of July in San Jose, Costa Rica!

So good to have you here in Central America as my travel buddy!

Volcan Arenal in Costa Rica

It's an active volcan and we've observed it spitting out lava during the night. Was a stunning spectacle!

PURE AND WONDERFUL NATURE

Aguas Calientes

Chilling and realaxing in the thermal bath is the best way to end up a wonderful day!

Watfall Catarata at La Fortuna

the water falls over 60 meters down to the little lake creating a river where we took a refreshing swim after having hiked up on a really sunny day

NICARAGUA

Hiring a motorbike and playing easy rider on Isla Omepete

it was a huge off road track around the island but lots of fun with my 125cc and my easy rider hippie look... :-)

Isla Ometepe

the island was created by the two vulcans "La Concepcion" and "Maderas", is surrounded by the biggest sweet water lake of Central America, lago nicaragua, and is host of some absolutely beautiful spots we loved exploring.

Hiking Volcan Baru

On purpose I didn't tell anybody before what I was about doing because I didn't want you to worry. It was crazy, true but so amazing and such a big adventure.
On Tuesday the 2nd of Juli 2007 at 11.20 p.m. I hiked the Vulcan Baru in Panama.
All on my own I started a way of 13.5 kilometeres passing 2415 meters of hight. I had a flash light that quickly ran out of battery but I didn't really need since the moon was nearly full and gave enough natural light.
The fact of walking all alone in the middle of the night through forest, on moddy and stony ways with lots of strange noises up to a Volcan was exciting as such!
5 hours later I reached the top, exhausted but really happy!
And the view up there was just stunning, impressive and wonderful!!!
I could overlook the Pacific on one side and turning 180 degress I got to see the Atlantic as well. During the whole sunrise there were flashlights all over lightening up the sky!

Although I was dead on my feet once I reached the foot of the volcan because I did a 7km track in the afternoon as kind of a warm-up (bad idea) so had about 35km of walking and more or less 5000m of hight that I passed behind me and even had to go on walking because the ranger didn't have a phone to call a taxi to pick me up I had to keep walking till a car stopped and brought me to town it was soooo much worth it!

impresions about my journey

traveling is just graet - I love it and I'm totally happy beside the fact that I really miss Ecuador and my friends there...

Let's the pictures speak:

Catching up with Loschti

in Bogota after 1.5 years that we haven't seen each other!

Was so great, especially the fact that nothing has changed on our friendship, it was as always and that is so wonderful!

Me in Panama City
really impressive city with the big contrast of the old part (casco antiguo) what you can see in the front and the new part of the city in the back.

The parties in Guayaquil are much better though - miss them!

Panama Canal
very impressive to see how ships get through the canal

Some more pictures about Panama you find HERE

Puente de Americas (Bridge of the Americas)
that connects the two continents over the Panama Canal

San Blas
an archipelago with 364 islands where the Kuna indigenous live and it's just paradise!!
On the picture you see that the island with only one palmtree really exists - I've been there ;-)
