Welcome to Ecuador

Yesterday it was such a wonderful day! I could welcome my beloved parents at the airport of Quito. We were and of course still are all so happy seeing each other again after quite a while.
First thing we had to do though was buying an umbrella because Quito welcomed my Mam and Dad with rain…
Doesn’t matter, all that’s important is that we are together now.
Having them here means that we will be traveling around in Ecuador.
Then, on the 5th of April I have to leave Ecuador due to visa issues. Well, my one-year visa expires at the 5th and in order to keep staying here legaly I have to leave the country and come back, getting a tourist visa for 3 more month, that'll do :-)
So therefore I will be on my way out of Ecuador on the 4th and spend the Easter holidays somewhere in Peru or Colombia.
Just letting you know if you wonder why I might not respond your mails or whatever.
- I will have limited internet access and furthermore BE ON VACATIONS
of course I will also enjoy it for you...! ;-)

air/sea freight

I'm looking for any ideas about how best sending my luggage from Guayaquil (Ecuador) to Lucerne (Switzerland).
Time doesn't matter, so it could be sea, road anything that is safe and economic.

Any suggestions how I can do that best please drop me a line in a comment or send me a mail.
I appretiate a lot, thank you!

Fiesta de mi cumpleaños

Incredible isn’t it that I had to get up early in the morning on my birthday although I just wanted to sleep in which I love doing so much. But due to the fact that our MCP just got back and we had some urgent issues to discuss we did a MC Meeting on Saturday at 8a.m.
From 10am to 3pm I was busy with the whole Review Board (application process for going on an eXchange with AIESEC).
In the evening I invited my best friends for a dinner in Tania’s house where we enjoyed Fondue and Roeschti… jajajaja – viva la comida suiza!!
With full bellies we headed to the party in the golden south!
The special of the night were definitely the mariachis (musicians that played guitar and sung some typical songs) although I didn’t know the songs I really liked it.

Thank you so much to Roxana, Tania, Luigi and Tatiana (from left to right) who made this possible!

Later on I put on some typical Swiss music (Ewigi Liebi Jodel) and another Jodel which the people not really liked but behaved openly and culturally sensitive – obviously AIESECers… :-)

It was great fun and I enjoyed a lot!
Check out some pictures
here or HERE we have some more

Just wanted to say thank you to everybody who made this day a little bit more special, might it be by having given me a call, having written a mail, a message, a letter, having been at my party or whatever it was to show presence.
I just felt that it is even more important to receive something from friends if you are far away from home.
A really special thank to my family, all my Swiss and international friends who remembered me and of course all the Ecuadorians

– you are just great –

I LOVE YOU

waves on the street

Two days ago there was an incredible spectacle happening on the streets of Guayaquil.

Ecuador is in the winter season, which means it’s really hot during the day (between 30 and 40 degrees), cold during the night (never less then 24 degrees) and it rains a lot.
Well, it’s the time of EL NINO, a natural phenomenon that brings a lot of rain. But actually it wasn’t really raining so much for the past months and not as strong as usually during that time as the locals told me. Of course, when it rained it did so heavily – but in comparison to the other day it was NOTHING!

Dude, I’m telling you that was just incredible!!! For the ones that remember the flood in Lucerne – it rained like that or even stronger.
The funny thing though comes now… They definitely have a problem with their canalizations here, which means that they are all full of trash and that’s why the water can’t flow off. As I’ve written before everybody litters, throws trash on the street and not in the not available bins. So ones it rains the rain spoils all this water to the drains and these obviously get clogged.
Conclusion of the whole thing is that all the water gets stuck on the street and that therefore the streets are not streets anymore but lakes.I’m not exaggerating saying that there was 8cm water on the streets – all over in the city!!
It was kind of funny walking home from the bus station (define bus station: where I want the bus to drop me off) having all my feet in the lake of the street.
Observing this spectacle for a little while – I was just fascinated – I even saw some little waves on the street. That was really funny and such a great picture…

Still think Guayaquil should do something about the trash on the street problem. Jajajaja

Lately it hits me more often - that strange feeling of which I quite don’t know what it is. Maybe I just realize that the end of my time here in Ecuador is getting closer and closer. Of course I’m looking forward to going back home and especially to the new adventure that I’m gonna step in – hopefully if I manage to make another dream come true.
But I have established such a great life here, have amazing friends, a challenging job that is full passion and since the new year I’m also much more focused on achieving my personal goals. Actually I do just great with it and I guess it’s just the thought that all of this will be over in 3 months that makes me sad. Also seeing that so many people have left that I’m actually missing and they miss it to be here and are working hard on the re-acclimatization…Time is just flying by – if I look back where I was a year ago… at my “catch u later” party in Bern and you know I don’t like saying see you soon if it’s not given that it’s for sure… which will be the case here… I don’t know
Strange

Will just go on and fully enjoy every single day. Cause YES, I’m still aware and grateful of what I have…Have a great day
