Suited in the lovely Swiss mountains I attended the first AIESEC conference since I’m back

DO-IT 2007 in Fiesch

Although a MC term abroad officially doesn’t count as eXchange I assisted the returnees track on Saturday and Sunday. Talking with people who have lived abroad for quite a while as well and recently came back did really well to me. Sharing the experiences and although not getting concrete solutions just feeling better due to the fact of not being alone with the issues that I faced on my return. That was really nice and helped me I guess.

But overall the conference didn’t help me overcoming my great miss of my time in Ecuador – actually it worsted it!

The main reasons for that:

Not a single day passes on which I don’t think about my beautiful yet so different life in Ecuador but talking so much about it made me even remember and therefore miss it more…

Last and most importantly, the general culture of AIESEC in Switzerland – it’s not the same! In comparison to an Ecuadorian conference there were no roll-calls, no icebreakers, and no punishments – NOTHING! I guess that has always been this way here but after having lived the Latin passion I just missed it, missed these kind of activities so so much!

It's not the same I know I know...
But I'm not the same anymore, either...

see, I've got 5 years in AIESEC but it’s been the first time that I came home after a conference, put some AIESEC music and danced, just for myself!

Te extrano my Ecuador – te adagrezco todo lo q me diste, la mejor experiencia de mi vida – y te lo ojuro q voy a volver – o sea lo mas pronto posible!

yeah, I don't remember you as a very enthusiastic dancer back in our times ;-)
Hope there's more things that help you get through the reintegration, let me know if you're home over Xmas/new years, would love to meet up for a coffee!

I feel a little of what you're going through. I've been feeling very nostalgic recently about Thailand, i guess i could say i miss it (if i actually had the time to miss anything!)

Hugs from Toronto, hope studies are going well.
